CAPE TOWN – The Metro Emergency Medical Service says there’s been a decrease in attacks on paramedics in the Western Cape.
Since 2012, more than 200 attacks on EMS staff members have been reported.
The service’s Wayne Smith says they’re working closely with police and the Western Cape Community Safety Department to clamp down on paramedic attacks.
“We hope that we’re turning a corner. The number of cases has dropped from about six three years ago to about two. There are still too many cases and I think we can do better.”
