JOHANNESBURG – Motorists using the Golden Highway and K43 road in southern Johannesburg have been urged to use alternative routes on Thursday morning due to a protest.
It is understood that residents from parts of Lenasia are demonstrating over electricity issues.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department’s Wayne Minnaar says roads have been barricaded.
“This is affecting traffic coming from the Orange Farm side to the city as well as Ennerdale. Motorists are urged to use alternative routes. More officers are being sent to the area.”
One motorist says that traffic has already been affected.
“Everybody is making U-turns.”
