JOHANNESBURG – The death toll from Tuesday morning’s Mpumalanga crash has risen to 18. A bus collided with a truck near Machadodorp leaving at least 15 people injured.
It’s believed the minibus was carrying mostly mineworkers.
Paramedics said several people were found beneath the overturned bus.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
Earlier ER24’s Russel Meiring said: “ER24 paramedics, along with several other services, arrived on the scene and found the bus lying on its side on the side of the road, while the truck had come to a stop just a short distance away. Both vehicles had been completely ripped open and sustained a large amount of damage in the collision.”
On Monday, six people were killed and 50 others injured when a bus collided with a stationary truck on the N8 near Bloemfontein.
